In the Time of Covid I found myself looking around for something new to challenge me. I had imported some St. Thomas Body stoneware clay a few years before. Deonarine very kindly threw these pots for me as they were too big for me to handle. The last thing he said when he was leaving, was “don’t forget to thin the walls at the bases of the pots!” The lure of high firing this lovely clay appealed to me (a stoneware Virgin) and I set about carving and sculpting to see what I could make of it.

We bisqued them. During the glaze-firing however the gas kiln got out of hand – the temperature rose too fast and at the end half of the pots had fractured or exploded! 🙁 And so I managed only to complete 4 perfectly fired pieces.
